Robert Schartz, Partner and head of the litigation team at Abrahams Kaslow & Cassman LLP, and Joshua Baumann, an Associate at the firm, successfully represented a Certified Physicians
Assistant and a local Urgent Care Clinic in a week-long wrongful death jury trial.

The plaintiff was the estate of a woman who died from sepsis at a local hospital days after visiting the Urgent Care Clinic for fever, chills and abdominal pain. The complaint alleged the Certified Physicians Assistant and Urgent Care Clinic were negligent in their care and treatment of the deceased and sought $1.7 million in damages.

At trial, Schartz and Baumann were able to demonstrate that the PA-C did not perform below the standard of care which was key to the jury’s decision.
