Nicholas T. Dafney is a partner with the firm and a member of the business department. He joined the firm in 2002 and focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, corporate and business law, creditor's rights and estate planning.
Mr. Dafney has developed a broad and diverse mergers and acquisitions practice focusing on local and national mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and strategic alliances for corporations and businesses of all sizes and industries. In recent years, Mr. Dafney's mergers and acquisitions practice has included acquisitions and divestitures of asset and business interests ranging in size from $200 million national transactions to assisting Omaha business owners with the sale or acquistion of local business interests. Mr. Dafney's mergers and acquisitions practice is comprehensive and includes the drafting and negotiation of complex legal documents and advising firm clients as to all aspects of such transactions including regulatory, governance, real estate, finance, employment and intellectual property matters.
In his corporate and business practice, Mr. Dafney represents corporations and other business entities in all aspects of their existence - from the formation and establishment of the enterprise through all aspects of its evolution and operation. Mr. Dafney's business practice is broad and often intersects with closely related practices such as tax and corporate transactions, specifically mergers and other acquisitions and dispositions of business and related assets. Mr. Dafney also counsels businesses in connection with their ongoing contractual relationships with customers, suppliers, distributors and employees.Mr. Dafney received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1998. He received his Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2002.
While in law school, Mr. Dafney was a member of the Nebraska Moot Court Board and was a Problem Writer for the Law College's First Year Legal Writing Program.
Prior to entering law school, Mr. Dafney was a Corporate Auditor with Union Pacific Corporation where he performed contract compliance audits for Union Pacific's contractors throughout the United States.
Mr. Dafney is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association.
